International challenges with a difference
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust is an independent membership organisation dedicated to raising the
achievement of young people in secondary schools. The SSAT and its international arm iNet is currently working in
partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) in United Arab Emirates (UAE) secondary schools, and there
is also the possibility of new projects in other parts of the world.
Current needs
We are currently working in the Abu Dhabi emirate with schools based in the oasis city of Al Ain (which is an
hour and a half drive from Dubai) and in Abu Dhabi city. In order to support this high profile initiative, we employ
experienced teaching professionals to team teach, coach and develop resources working alongside Abu Dhabi teachers
with the support of SSAT’s national and international networks.
We have also been seeking applications to express interest in other potential future projects.
Please visit the Opportunities section for details of specific vacancies within our international projects and to apply.
We are also currently recruiting on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to support their current needs. Please go to the Opportunities section to see more details and to apply.
The Abu Dhabi project
Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates and is the country’s capital and administrative centre.
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) which was established by Presidential Decree in September 2005 has
established a programme that has seen a selected number of schools operated through Public Private Partnerships. The
pilot program began in 2006 and is one element of the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s overall plan to improve the
quality of public education in Abu Dhabi and bring the achievement level of students in line with international
standards.
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is working in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council
(ADEC) to enhance the standard of English used in the teaching curriculum and help every student not just reach but
exceed their potential at school. This is a unique opportunity to improve the quality of public education in Abu
Dhabi.
